Landscaping design: attempt one

So we have been twiddling our thumbs waiting for the land to title. In the meantime we have sketched out a rough design for the landscaping.

Our house has a lot of windows looking out to a side yard area. We have 2 fixed picture windows (1800x1800), 2 bifold doors (4 and 5 leaf), 1 floor to ceiling fixed window in the entry (looking over the alfresco),a large awning window in the study and a glass door from the ensuite.

We really want the yard to be a peaceful, inviting, low maintanance extension of our house.
